Sport and Recreation Facilities Plan Renewal 2023-2027

Project Overview

The City of Bunbury has commenced development of a new Sport and Recreation Facilities Plan. The revised Sport and Recreation Plan will prioritise actions to optimise recreational activation through City support, and inform planning for the City's sport and recreation facilities.

The plan will replace the current Sport and Recreation Strategy 2019-2029. While the current strategy has been useful, it is time to refresh with a new focus around some elements.

The new Sport and Recreation Facilities Plan focus areas are:

  • Club support and development
  • Provision of appropriate recreational asset provision, renewal, and replacement
  • Industry and government partnerships

Benefits to the community:

  • Increased club and association sustainability and support for operations where it is most needed (driven by stakeholder feedback)
  • Effective prioritisation of asset replacement/replenishment and upgrade of facilities to best meet the needs of the sporting community
  • Identification of emerging and growth sports to plan for future (facilities and support)

Once adopted, the plan will be in place for a four-year period with clear tangible actions that need to be implemented and reported back to the community.

Stakeholder Engagement

In development of the new plan, the City will engage with community to understand the needs of clubs, associations and other stakeholders - this engagement will inform the outcomes, actions and priorities in the plan.
