Project Overview

From our vibrant waterfronts to our City Centre, Bunbury is a city of diverse voices and shared dreams. Now, as we stand at an important time to refresh our City's vision and reset our guiding strategic plan, we are reaching out to hear your story. What you love about our city, what you imagine it could become, and how we can work together on aligned priorities.

Over recent months, we've been listening to our community's ideas, aspirations and priorities shared through our MARKYT Community Scorecard 2025. We have heard passionate feedback about beautifying our city, exciting ideas for new projects and reimagining public spaces, and thoughtful comments about supporting our local economy. These conversations have started to paint a picture of tomorrow's Bunbury, but the canvas isn't complete.

Now it's your turn.As the people who help make our city work, your professional experience and understanding of our operations are invaluable to this planning process.

This is why we're inviting you to join us in crafting our new Council Plan - the blueprint that will guide our city's future.Whether you're maintaining our infrastructure, supporting our community programs, managing our facilities, or working behind the scenes in essential support roles, your insights are invaluable.

Join us in writing the next chapter of this story and have your say on the new vision for Bunbury.

The City is currently undergoing an exciting transformation, including the review of its current Strategic Community Plan (SCP), a guiding community strategy, and commencing the development of a new Council Plan due to be finalised in June 2026.

We currently have a ten-year SCP, covering the period 2022 to 2032. Major reviews of these strategic plans are conducted on a four-year cycle with the City’s next major review being due in 2026. The Local Government Act also recently underwent a reform, which includes replacing the SCP with a simplified short-form Council Plan that sets high-level objectives over a 10-year period.

This new plan replaces our Strategic Community Plan and brings a more focused, flexible, and community-friendly approach to long-term planning. It’s designed to make it easier for our community to have their say and see their aspirations reflected in the City’s direction.

We’ve already heard from our residents through the community scorecard, and the priorities are clear:

  • City centre development and activation
  • Housing
  • Safety and crime prevention
  • Economic development
  • Streetscapes, trees and verges
  • Tourism and destination marketing
  • Aged care, including accommodation

Now, we’re inviting our community to help shape what comes next. From pop-ups to drop-ins and workshops across Bunbury, we’re bringing the conversation to you, so you can help create a brighter future and share your vision for the city we all call home.

  • Brighter Together - Help shape the future of Bunbury

We are reviewing our Strategic Community Plan and need your input to develop a new Council Plan that reflects the vision and priorities of our community.

This survey is a part of a broader consultation process, and your input will be considered alongisde contributions from community workshops and other engagement activities. Your feedback and ideas will help us ensire that the City's new Council Plan responds to the aspirations of our community, for the place we all call home.

In addition to refreshing the new vision for Bunbury, our community also recently provided feedback on their top priorities and rated the services provided by the City throug the MARKYT Community Scorecard. This survey delves a little deeper into those priorities ensuring the new Council Plan and its objectives are aligned to meeting the needs of our community.

Independant consultants are managing our community responses and will be developing a thematic report that will be published (however will not include any personal information).

The survey will take no longer than 10 minutes to complete and we welcome all of your feedback.
