February 2026 Update
The City of Bunbury’s Arts and Culture Strategy 2026–2030 has now been finalised and officially adopted by Council. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed their time, ideas and creativity throughout the process -your involvement was invaluable in shaping this Strategy.
Developed through extensive community input and collaboration with local creatives, the Strategy establishes a shared vision for how arts and culture will grow and thrive across Bunbury over the next four years.
The Strategy is guided by five core aspirations:
- A City of Connected Stories – celebrating our people, history and identity through shared cultural experiences.
- A City of Creative Momentum – supporting artist led activity and creativity in everyday spaces.
- A City of Cultural Leadership – positioning Bunbury as a leading cultural destination.
- A City of Everyday Creativity – encouraging creativity across schools, neighbourhoods and community spaces.
- A City of Creative Foundations – strengthening pathways and opportunities for local creative careers.

Background
This strategy will align with the City’s broader Strategic Community and Economic Development plans, ensuring a cohesive vision for the city’s future. The Arts and Culture Strategy will be a crucial document, shaping Bunbury’s arts and culture identity for years to come.
The goal is to further establish Bunbury as leading the way when it comes to being a recognised cultural hub, enhancing its unique identity and fostering a thriving arts scene.
Community engagement is a vital part of developing the Arts and Culture Strategy. The strategy will be shaped by the needs and aspirations of our community, ensuring it accurately reflects the diverse voices within Bunbury.
The engagement process will involve working closely with key groups across the city, including local artists, cultural organisations, community groups, businesses, government agencies, and residents.
Through a variety of tailored engagement methods, we will gather valuable insights and feedback from all stakeholders to ensure the strategy is inclusive and representative of Bunbury's unique cultural landscape.
Community members shared their ideas, feedback, and suggestions through an online survey, open from MArch until mid-May.
